I have Huntington’s Chorea…..it is not going away….ever!! It will only get worse.

In April I was officially diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease. It is a fatal genetic cocktail I did not sign up for. I have what is called “Late onset”…. This means I have been WAY more fortunate than some, as this is a rare condition.
Huntington’s disease (HD) is a rare genetic disorder. The prevalence of HD varies depending on population, but it is estimated to affect: 

• Globally: 2-7 cases per 100,000 people
• Europe: 4-7 cases per 100,000 people
• North America: 4-5 cases per 100,000 people
• United States: 1-2 cases per 10,000 people 

In the United States, it is estimated that around 30,000 people have HD. The prevalence is higher in people of European descent and lower in people of African, Asian, or Hispanic descent. 

It has upended my finances… in every possible way. I am struggling to make these new and unforeseen expenses….trips to the different specialist. At this point in my new journey, I am able to advocate, and be part of the blind trials they have to offer as they become available. I am reaching out to friends and family for any support with so I would appreciate any extra you could spare. It would be a true blessing.
