The Eternal Flame

Our actions to others issues and problems reflect what is in our own hearts. Growing older, as in my case, is a blessing. This is by the providence and protection from the God I serve. Having grey hair is a glory. Respect the bald. (laughing out loud)….Why? Well, 2 Kings 2: 23-25

23 Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up by the way, young lads came out from the city and mocked him and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead; go up, you baldhead!” 24 When he looked behind him and saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. Then two female bears came out of the woods and tore up forty-two lads of their number. 25 And he went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.

The event described in these verses may seem repulsive to many and totally out of character with the personality of Elisha, a man who was more peaceful and personal than Elijah. As Krummacher remarks, “A deadly burst of vengeance upon a troop of wanton youths; a curse pronounced upon them in the name of the Lord! How characteristic of the legal dispensation! But how opposite to all we have said of the character and call of Elisha, as a messenger of the kindness and love of God our Saviour!”19

Guard your tongue and actions against all evil. Yet, sometimes it is time to break out the whip.
Rest assured, God loves his children. We have a free will to walk away at any time. It is the special people in our lives that see through our veils. To thine own self be true.
